KOLON SPORT x Hussein Chalayan
Future can never exist without the past.
In thislight I would like to explore an idea where past-present and future are all combined to create a sense of 'liquid time'
As a strong believer in harmony betwwen new technology and craftsmansaip, in order to create a correlation between the two,
i would like to propose the imaginary concept of the 'fallen space man' (which of course is created by mankind himself), becoming a symbol of our own curiosity, returning from outer space to rediscover Korean culture
This sense of rediscovery for me represents a full circle of how we evolved and how we need to return to the past to be reinspired.
I propose a scenario where a space man after having crashed into the ocean, with bulit in life jackets in order to better float through the sea, settled into land where he/she re-explores and applies detalis from traditional Korean attire onto their space suit in order to re align herself/himself with the local culture.
I would like to propose a series of space suit inspired pieces, with and without life jacket extensions, ending up with a collection which defines its own new sense of place and time
